On the 19th September 2011, during Lower Silesian Science Festival, NeoLek - Integrated Laboratory of Experimental Oncology and Innovative Technologies organized presentations “Hands on Science", subtitle: "Experimental antitumor therapy – where do drugs come from?" Presentations included two one-hour blocks: "With the eye of the chemist" and "With the eye of the biologist" repeated in three sessions. Presentations were attended by 32 participants - students of Lower Silesian secondary and high schools and were held in the Laboratory of Experimental Antitumor Therapy and in the Laboratory of Biomedical Chemistry.

Presentations were preceded by brief introductory lectures on chemical and biotechnological methods for synthesizing new drugs and instrumental analysis of new preparations of potential anticancer activity. Presentation about modern instrumental methods used in drug research involved:

1. modern methods for molecules separation – usage of high-performance liquid chromatography,
   
2. methods for determining molecular weight of molecules, molecules structure research – usage of mass spectrometry,
   
3. methods for determining size of macromolecules – usage of method of dynamic laser light scattering.

Next, the participants took an active part in laboratory work, including the establishment of cell cultures or conducting tests of antitumor activity. They had also the opportunity to see how such partially automated tests run.

On 26 November 2010 under promotion of the Project  POIG.02.01.00-02-073/09 a meeting was held, emerging at the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy – NeoLek Integrated Laboratory of Experimental Oncology and Innovative Technology.  The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the idea of potential beneficiaries of the Project and offer the tests performed in the Laboratory NeoLek.  The meeting was attended by 29 people -  representatives of Wroclaw scientific institutions  (IITD, Wrocław University of Technology, University of Wrocław, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, WBC EIT+) and representatives of the biotechnology industry,  pharmaceutical and chemical  (Adamed ltd., Zakłady Azotowe S.A. Kędzierzyn Koźle, Finepharm S.A.).
